I know my dog isn’t here forever, but I’ll take a little while instead. A little time, after-all, is better than none.
I’ll take a little while to get to know more than a lot about my dog. He’ll teach me things I never thought to think about. In fact, I’ll learn more about him in a short amount of time than I could ever learn about another human in my entire life. My dog is a genius.
My dog is a wise old man, a role model, and a dear friend, all rolled into one. I’ll take a moment with him over a century with anyone else. He can teach me the simple pleasures of an afternoon, or the complexities of picking out the best toy. He pays great attention to detail.
My dog knows all the best spots to nap, and how to cool off on the hottest of days. He knows where to find the best shade, and how to sniff out nearby food. He teaches me to follow my nose and my heart.
I’ll take a little while with my dog to learn a lot about the world, and how to make fast friends. How having something small in common can define the future of a relationship. My dog can teach me how to choose my companions based on first impressions and good vibes alone.
My dog wears his heart on his sleeve, and is honest with his intentions and motives. Although, that could describe most dogs. Any amount of time spent with one will prove that.
I know my dog isn’t here forever, but I’ll take a little while instead, because I know how important he is. He will teach me how to love, and how to make lasting memories.
A little while with my dog will go a long way.
